For configuration, common ADA-compliant options include a 96-inch car space with a 60-inch access aisle, or a 132-inch van space with a 60-inch aisle, or a 96-inch van space paired with a 96-inch aisle. Access aisles must be adjacent to the space, marked as no-parking, connect to the accessible route, and maintain a maximum slope of 1:48 in all directions.
Signage and visibility: each accessible space is identified by the International Symbol of Accessibility mounted so the bottom of the sign is at least 60 inches above the ground. Van spaces include a “Van Accessible” designation. Pavement symbols and legends are placed for maximum legibility, and we position signs to remain visible even when a vehicle is parked. Crosshatching delineates access aisles to prevent encroachment and maintain clear transfer space.
